Servings 6 people

Equipment

  • 2 Large Saucepans

  • Tall Serving Glasses

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Of Tapioca Pearls
  • 2 Cups Of Water
  • 9 Jasmine Green Tea Bags
  • 9 Cups Of Whole Milk
  • Condensed Milk/Evaporated Milk/Cream Optional
  • Sugar Or Honey To Taste Optional
  • Few Ice Cubes For Cold Version

Instructions

  • Start by adding the water into a large saucepan and bring it to a boil. Now, add the tapioca pearls and cook them over medium heat.

  • Stir often to avoid sticking the pearls to each other. Once the pearls start to float, they are cooked, but let them boil for a few more minutes and then turn off the heat.

  • In another large saucepan, add the milk and heat it over low to medium heat. Remember not to let it boil as it might split.

  • Once it starts to simmer and is hot, add the jasmine green tea bags, let it steep for 3 to 4 minutes, and then withdraw the tea bags. Remove the pot from the heat.

  • Take the tall serving glasses, put in the cooked tapioca pearls equally, and then pour the freshly brewed jasmine tea over the pearls.

  • Now add any sweetener of your preference, like sugar or honey, and give it a nice stir.

  • Lastly, add a splash of condensed milk, evaporated milk or cream, whichever is your preference, into the tea for extra richness.

  • Jasmine milk tea is ready to be served and enjoyed!

For Iced Jasmine Milk Tea

  • Brew the jasmine milk tea as mentioned above, and then add the sweetener of your choice. Mix well. (When the tea is hot, it becomes easy for the sugar to dissolve).

  • Allow it to cool down and then refrigerate it for 1 or 2 hours.

  • Just before serving tea, cook the tapioca pearls. Now, add the boba balls, condensed milk and a few ice cubes into the glasses.

  • Then pour the chilled jasmine milk tea over them, and stir well.

  • Top it up with some freshly whipped cream and serve immediately!

Notes

  • To make this tea, you can use dairy or non-dairy milk. Try to avoid using coconut milk here as it will taste all coconuty!
  • Do not steep the jasmine green tea leaves for more than 5 minutes, as the taste will get bitter.
  • If you are adding condensed milk, evaporated milk, or some cream, just remember to reduce the quantity of sweetener.
  • If you prefer, you can even replace the tapioca pearls with mango pudding.
  • If you want this drink to be as vibrant as green milk tea, you can add a tiny amount of match powder.
  • Boba tea is always served with a big straw to get tapioca pearls & the tea in each sip.

Shelf Life

Jasmine milk tea is best when it’s prepared and served fresh; however, if you want to make it ahead of time, then prepare the jasmine green tea, and it can be stored for at least 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator.

Remember that when tapioca pearls begin to cool down, they will become hard. Also, Chinese people do not like preparing tea ahead of time or keeping it overnight because they believe it’s not good for you! And I personally also make the tea when I want to have it!

Conclusion

The sweetness that comes from the tapioca pearls, when combined with the jasmine tea and milk, gives you a perfect tea drink for an afternoon delight anytime! Its subtle floral taste & creamy texture will impress you a lot, and you will keep returning to this recipe! And well, do let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
